# Intro

**Aura** is a decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregation protocol built on the Plasma blockchain. It consolidates liquidity from multiple decentralized exchanges and market makers into a single interface and API.

For each trade request, **Aura** queries all connected liquidity sources, compares available rates, and applies routing optimizations to execute the trade at the most efficient price possible. The protocol abstracts the operational complexity of swaps, allowing users and developers to interact with multiple DEXs through one unified system.

**Aura** can be accessed through its web interface or integrated into decentralized applications via the **Aura's API**.

#### Summary

**Aura** provides a standardized interface for decentralized liquidity aggregation on the Plasma blockchain.

It focuses on accurate rate discovery, efficient trade execution, and reduced gas consumption through optimized routing and smart order splitting.

The protocol can be used directly or integrated programmatically into other decentralized applications through its API.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://aura-16.gitbook.io/aura/intro.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
